About Me

jo dodddsWith a background in HR and Digital and Social Media, I work with business owners and leaders to improve their personal productivity and, as a result, their wellbeing, as well as helping them to improve employee engagement in their organisations.

I speak, train, consult, coach and facilitate depending on the need. I offer 121 coaching and various programmes and courses to enable business owners and leaders to be more effective and look after their own wellbeing and that of their people (if they have them!).

My key strengths are around communication, individualisation and collecting and translating knowledge into learning for others by way of storytelling. Aside from my consulting and speaking work, this works really well when I have the opportunity to chair a conference!

My favourite projects are where an individual or organisation knows that they have a need to inprove productivity, wellbeing and/or engagement but aren’t really sure they know how to go about doing that. Often the individuals involved do have the knowledge and skills to achieve these goals and my role is to draw that out and facilitate the work moving forwards through building confidence and empowering the team to take the actions needed.

Alongside my consulting, speaking and training around employee engagement, I work as part of the core team of Engage for Success, the national not for profit movement spreading the word about employee engagement and shining a light on good practise.

A few years ago I read, in Malcolm Gladwell’s book ‘The Tipping Point‘, about the concept of being a maven and realised that fairly well describes me. I am always striving for improvements in my life through reading and research and I can’t help but share what I find out along the way (and not always just when asked!).

At the end of 2014 I had an email from Pocket, the app I use to organise my article reading and learning, congratulating me on being in their top 1% of readers based on the volume of words that I’d read in the year – 1,667,769 to be precise!

They also sent me some interesting statistics about what I’d actually been reading. It came as no surprise to read that I focus my reading and learning time on the following topics:

  • Productivity
  • Technology
  • Health
  • Food
  • Business

For a few months I’d been thinking about creating a blog site and newsletter based on these interests partly as I’d had a few emails from people who used to get my newsletter that I stopped writing at the end of 2012 asking if they’d dropped off my list and missed my emails, and partly because I figured it would be good fun to share what I find with my friends and interested contacts given I spend so much of my time researching this stuff!

And POWER to Live More was born. Ok, it wasn’t quite as simple as that and it took a good few years to get really clear about what I’m offering and, of course, things are ever evolving but I’m happy with where it’s at so far!

I live in Hythe in Kent, UK – on a good day I can see France from my office window! I’m married to Simon and we have Little Doddsy, born in 2006 (to save me having to remember to update her age!).

I send an ad hoc eclectic newsletter. Expect some news of what the famous ‘Little Doddsy’ (now not so little!), and my co-presenter on the ‘POWER to Live More podcast‘, is up to, interesting stuff I find and links to my latest blog posts and/or podcasts. You can subscribe here, and unsubscribe at any time!
